Tomorrow night looks like a great night for cricket!! – rain is expected late – so we should get all our cricket in. Tomorrow night, we will be having Piccolino Pizza and sausages. I know that at our season launch, I requested the pizza to arrive way too early (all my fault). This time it will be arriving as the Junior Blasters and Super 7s leave the field – so will be nice and warm. As always a second delivery will occur as our older Juniors finish.
Massive thanks to our Junior Blaster families who ‘are on duty tomorrow night’ As Smudge has mentioned to you – you help is fantastic – however there is no expectation that you need to stay late – as some of our older families will assist with the second delivery of pizza and clean up.
What a great night curry night was. Some 30 curry dishes – all cooked and donated by many families. Thanks to everyone who cooked – and also those who helped keep the curries warm, and bringing them out from the kitchen. I know I will miss some people here – however I know that Justine and Amy Millar, Nina Sandt and Deb Richards did heaps of work in ensuring a successful night.
I know there were a number of containers/dishes left behind as they still had curry in them when families left. Most of them have been washed, and are ready for collection. If not, they will be in the fridge/kitchen sink after being washed. Please take them tomorrow night when you see them.
A reminder that the clubs Junior Christmas Party – including a visit from Santa for our Junior Blasters and Super 7s – is on Friday 20 December after cricket in our Club Rooms. This is again a really special night – where we all can come together.
For our Junior Blasters and Super 7s families – especially our new families this season – if you would like your child to receive a present from Santa, please purchase one (please no more than $10 – $15), wrap it and clearly mark your child’s name on it. On the night, we will have discreet places that you can leave your present. Santa will then provide your present to your child.
Our older Juniors will still be also able to enjoy a great night – so please – it will be great if everyone can come along.
Our Super 7s are simply amazing. Our two teams (Saturday coached by Nick Rodman with assistance from Andrew Northfield), and Sunday (coached by Jason Griffiths and Team manager Wayne Paton) are going from strength to strength.
We have 19 players in both teams – with a big number up from Junior Blasters last season. Despite a bit of bad weather early Saturday/Sunday morning – our Super 7s are developing brilliantly. They certainly have come up against some players who may actually need to be in Fast 9s – however the development is obvious. The fun most importantly is infectious. These young cricketers train on a Friday night – and play on the weekend. If you are driving by Bob Saker oval on the weekend – and you see a cricket match – I really encourage you to pop in for 10 minutes and see what our coaches and young juniors are doing. I have no doubt they will be playing senior cricket at Nuna in 10-15 years.
