Nunawading Cricket Club – Junior Weekly Update

Hi everyone – We are only three weeks away from the start of the season!! – Plenty of information below about the start of the season!!

Registration
It is not too late to register at Nunawading for the season ahead. We are always looking for new players to come and try cricket and enjoy the Nunawading experience – regardless of experience.

We are still keen to get a number of Super 7 players. If your child did Junior Blasters last season – and you are thinking your child is looking for the next challenge – please let myself or Daniel Smith know. We will happily talk to you about the next level of cricket (which is a natural step – that children always easily adapt to – without a hard ball – where everyone gets an even chance).

If you have not yet registered – please do so via the link below:

Apparel
I attach our apparel order form – if you need apparel, please complete and return this ASAP. All players – excluding Junior Blasters – ideally you will have a white Nuna shirt and purple cap. This includes those moving up to Super 7s this season.

A message from Rob Ferdinands – Nunawading Cricket Club Coach (Level 3 Accredited).

Our Club Coach – Rob Ferdinands – has some key points and some instructional videos for skills below – that are valuable for all players and coaches:

Power hitting

2. Square the hips
3. Head still at impact

Yorkers

1. Spend a little more time upright, leave front arm up a little longer to bowl full
2. Head still at release
3. Find a spot to look at that works for you (eg, top of off stump, half way up off stump, base of off stump, batters feet etc)
4. Vary position of delivery to batsmen eg. wide of stumps, off stump, leg stump

2. Pitch delivery up to bring them forward
3. Don’t over bowl them – use as a surprise
