Nunawading Cricket Club – Junior Weekly Update

Hi everyone – What a great last week it has been for Nunawading Cricket Club.

Our U18 team, won their way into a home Grand Final, with a strong win in their semi final. As Kev (coach) said after the match, no matter what happens during the season, finals are hard to win. This statement was so true, as the opposition put up a great effort, to push our young men all the way. The boys held firm, played great cricket, supported each other – and were able to win. Special thanks to Aidyn Malojer, Max Warburton and James Jessup, who offered to sub field. This willingness to help the club is truly fantastic. Thank you – your offer of assistance was greatly appreciated by all involved.

The boys will play this Thursday and Friday at Bob Saker oval (Mahoneys Reserve) in their Grand Final.

Our U14 team, also won their semi final – by beating the team that finished top of the ladder, undefeated. This is also a magnificent achievement by all involved. This was a true case of doing everything that Scott (coach) had worked with the players on all season, and being focused on ‘team’. It really was great to see the boys get around each other, support each other – and be there for each other, at all times. Boys were asked to do certain jobs – and they all obliged, with fantastic execution.

The boys will play again, this Thursday and Friday at Whitehorse Reserve in Box Hill, in their Grand Final.

The one thing that really stood out for me in both games, was how the boys enjoyed themselves, and represented their club, family and themselves with distinction. We will ensure that this Thursday and Friday we will have a bite to eat. I understand with the 14s playing away, it may be difficult to come back on Thursday night, however you are obviously welcome. On Friday, we will ensure that win or lose, we acknowledge the great achievements of all players, and ensure we thank Coaches, Team Managers and other helpers in the teams. It would be great to have as many families across the club come and watch/support the teams in their Grand Finals.

Season wind up
The season has/is coming to an end. Our U12s, U16s, Fast 9s and Junior Blasters have now all finished. Super 7s have one more match this weekend (with training on Friday). The Girls team play the next to Wednesday nights.
