Nunawading Cricket Club – Weekly Junior Update – No.2

Hi everyone – apologies for the second Weekly email this week – but just a few more announcements before we start the season tonight – in beautiful sunny weather

I need to clarify my poorly written update from a few days ago. We have put in a couple of apparel orders, with our supplier – but at this stage, have not yet received new stock. If you ordered you apparel on Registration Day, we are hopeful we will have that next week. Any apparel ordered after that may still be a few weeks away, although we do have some stock which we will be in contact with you – if it meets your requirements.

Therefore, if you don’t have a white Nuna shirt for the first few weeks, please feel free to wear a white/light t-shirt or polo. Additionally, a cap/hat that you also have at home is fine.

Blackburn Lake Primary School – Cricket Clinics and School Fete
This week, in conjunction with Cricket Victoria, we have run School Clinics at Blackburn Lake Primary School. This has been a fantastic success – and is also the first time we have done this at Blackburn Lake. This is a great way to promote the game of cricket – and hopefully have some more families join Nunawading. Additionally, it helps us build great relationships with Schools – something that we at Nunawding believe is very important. Already this week, we have a number of families who have registered in our Junior Blasters program from Blackburn Lake. Special thanks to Pete Jessup, Rob Ferdinands (Club Coach), Daniel ‘Smudge’ Smith, Claire Smith and Roger Harrison (Club Treasurer) who in their own time helped run the clinics. Also thanks to Clinton Keenan and Sam Norman from Cricket Victoria for running the clinics. We look forward to continuing to work with you. Finally, a massive thanks to Jean-Paul Lefebure and the company he works for – for once again providing us with promotional flyers for Nunawading. Don’t forget, for any printing needs, please contact:

Tomorrow – we are extending our relationship with Blackburn Lake, by having a stand at their fete. The ‘Spring Fest’ is a massive community event – and we have been invited to run a Cricket Clinic at the fete. We are therefore looking for a number of people to help run some clinics at the Fete tomorrow between 11.00am and 4.00pm. Please if you can help out for an hour or two, please let me know. Additionally, please support our Community Partner – and pop into the fete – more details via the link below:

First Aid
In order to keep our players, families, members and community safe we will be having a new automatic defibrillator installed into the clubrooms on Tuesday 23rd October. Additionally, St John Ambulance training to use the machine for up to 20 club members will be held as follows:

Training Time: approx. 7.30pm to 9.30pm

Training Location: Mahoneys Reserve, Mahoneys Road, FOREST HILL,VIC 3131

If you would like to be trained to use the defib please let me know via return email.

As part of our medical emergency plan we also require to have at least one trained first aid officer (preferably more). Can you please let me know if you have current Level 1 first aid qualifications and would be happy to be listed at the club as a First Aid Officer?

As a club, we may also consider running an in-house first aid training course (at the individual’s expense) for all members. Please let me know if you would be keen to attend this training.

Well – that should be it until tonight. I hope everyone enjoys the cricket over the next week – and please come upstairs tonight, to enjoy a SUPER BURGER, VEGIE BURGER or sausage in bread and a cold drink – while we hear how our Children went.

….oh, and by the way – I understand there is a chance that the Melbourne Star’s ‘Star Man’ may make an appearance tonight!!!!!
