Nunawading Cricket Club – Junior Weekly Update

Hi everyone – we are only 3 weeks away from the start of the season!!!!!

If you have not yet registered (and I know I say this every week), could I please ask that you do so ASAP. I understand there are a number of families who will be returning this year – who have not yet completed paperwork or registered on-line. I attach the online link, and also the manual Registration Form. Our numbers for teams look like being bigger than last season – which is fantastic. Many thanks to those families who have registered.,2,4,8,16

I also attach the Apparel form for those needing apparel.

Girls Cricket
On the success of our Girls team in recent seasons, we are looking to grow our Girls program. We are however still looking for a couple of Girls to play cricket as follows:

Girls – aged 8-12. We are looking to enter a ‘Stage 1’, seven aside team. This can be for Girls new to cricket (potentially those who did Milo last season, or siblings of older Juniors). Even if your daughter is slightly interested, please let me know. I have interest from about 4-5 families, so we are very close to getting this team happening!!

Girls – aged 13-17. This team is essentially the team that were premiers last season. We are looking for a couple of more Girls in this age group. Again, the Girls cricket experience does not need to be high – more so, the desire to play Cricket with and against other Girls.

Can I please ask all families to share this request on your Social media platforms. It will be so good for the Girls themselves – let alone Nunawading – if we can identify a few more Girls to play cricket.

Junior Blasters
Our Woolworths Junior Blasters program (previously Milo) is again looking like a great success. This season, we will be returning to the soccer pitch to run the Junior Blasters program. The middle oval is being ‘re-done’ by Council, so whilst this is a short term inconvenience, it will ensure long term health of the club – and also allow our Junior Blasters to undertake their program on a fantastic surface. We are still welcoming of more Junior Blasters – so again, if you have not yet registered, please do so. This will enable your kit to be received in time for the start of the season – with your child’s name on the back.

Training will continue this Sunday (23 September) from 9.00am – 10.15am. All Juniors are encouraged to attend. Last week we had about 35 juniors in total, which was fantastic. Given the school holidays are approaching, daylight savings has yet commenced and availability of families varies, we are continuing to offer the Sunday morning option. Additionally, training will also occur next week as follows:

– U18 – Sunday 23 September (11.30am – 1.00pm)
– U14 and U16 – Tuesday 25 September (5.00pm – 6.30pm)
– 8-12 year old boys and Girls – Wednesday 26 September (5.15pm – 6.30pm)

I will continue to keep you updated with future Sunday training sessions. Once Daylight Savings commence, we will also start our standard training times.

Commencement of matches
As mentioned last week, matches will commence as follows:

– Girls Cricket – Wednesday 10 October
– Woolworths Junior Blasters – Friday 12 October
– U12, U14, U16, U18 – Friday 12 October
– Super 7s and Fast 9s – Saturday 20 / Sunday 21 October (TBC)

If anyone has any queries, please let me know.

…Finally – if anyone did receive my weekly email multiple times last week, I do apologise. I only sent it once – however I think some people may have received it many times!! – Hopefully this does not happen this week when I press ‘send’.
