Nunawading Cricket Club – Welcome to the 2018/2019 Junior Season

Hi everyone

Welcome to the 2018/2019 junior cricket season at Nunawading!! We are looking to ensure this is another fun year of cricket and community!! Listed below are some important details in relation to the coming season. I have also attached a number of documents, which provide further information, including our Junior Handbook (which provides additional details on the season ahead) and the ‘Winter Log’ which provides an overall Club perspective on the upcoming season.

Woolworths
Woolworths have taken over the naming rights and support of the introductory program. What has been known for many years as Milo in2Cricket – will now be known as Woolworths Junior Blasters. Most aspects of this program will remain the same, and Daniel ‘Smudge’ Smith will again run our program on a Friday night. We look forward to working without youngest juniors and their families. If any families have previously participated in Milo, and are looking for the next step in their junior cricket, please contact myself or Smudge, so we can talk to you about the next step in the cricket pathway – the remarkably successful super 7 program.

Registration
Registration Day will be held on Saturday 25 August (9.00am – 11.00am) at our Club rooms. This will be a great opportunity to register, and also order/buy any apparel. Attached is a flyer promoting this day. Please pass this flyer on to family and friends, including via social media. We are looking for new players at all levels, especially younger girls (for a second girls team) and players at U12 level.

I also attach this year’s registration Form. Despite some minor increases in registration fees, the club is always looking to keep these costs as low as possible. We balance the increases in subs, with the increased costs of running the club, including council ground hire, insurance, cricket balls and equipment. The club is always looking to reinvest back into our players and families, including increased specialist coaching and updated facilities. If anyone has any concerns about being able to pay their subs, you are very welcome to speak to me confidentially. No child will miss out on playing cricket at Nunawading, for Financial reasons.

If you are not planning on returning this season, could you please advise me at your earliest convenience, so that we can manage our teams.

Pre Season Training
Until the light gets better, we will be running training sessions on a Sunday morning, commencing on Sunday 19 August. These sessions will run from 9.00am – 10.15am. All Juniors who intend to play this season are welcome to come along. (These sessions exclude those families whose children will be participating in Woolworths Junior Blasters).

Weeknight training will commence in early-mid September (when light improves and grounds are available). Details to be advised in coming weeks.

Assistance
As mentioned in early July, Jean-Paul Lefebure has stepped into the Vice President role of the overall club. Additionally, Caz Clarkson has moved away from the role of Junior Treasurer. Once again, a massive thanks to both JP and Caz. What that means, is that the club (and myself) are looking for assistance in these areas. Even if you are slightly interested in these roles, could you please contact me – they are not difficult – but are rewarding.

We are also looking for anyone who would like to coach (match day or assistant), or be team manager. Cricket Victoria – as part of recent decisions to invest more into grass roots cricket, have made available a number of specialized coaching courses. Additionally, Nunawading will support you all the way (you will not be left to run a team by yourself)!!

#Tag
Finally, whilst our #beinvolved has been great, any ideas for a new #tag are welcome!!!!

If anyone has any queries, please let me know.
