Nunawading Cricket Club – Junior Weekly Update

Hi everyone

What a cold week it has been in Melbourne!!! On saying that, I am sure we will get cricket in tomorrow night!! As a reminder, all matches, training and Milo will proceed, unless you are advised by your Team Manager that there has been a cancellation. Therefore, please arrive at your grounds as per normal, unless you hear otherwise. Tomorrow night in our Club Rooms, we will also be having Piccolino Pizza and sausages – as we do our post match presentations and awards.

Winning matches

Last week saw all five of our competitive Junior teams win!!! (U12, U14, Girls, U16 and U18). Whilst junior cricket is not all about winning, it is great to see our children enjoy a victory collectively!!! Well done everyone!

Curry Night

Friday 17 November, will be our world famous curry night. Over the years, this night has been a great success. The way it works is that we ask families (who can) to make a curry/rice/noodle dish and bring them along to the club for our Post Match gathering. All the curries and rice dishes are then available for everyone to try. If you donate a curry, there is no charge. If not we simply ask for $5 a plate. We also have sausage sizzle for those who may not be so keen on a spicy meal. If you can donate a curry, please let me know.

Leadership Session

We will be running a Leadership Session on Tuesday 14 November at 7.30pm in the Club Room. All U12, U14, Girls, U16 and U18 players will be invited to attend. The session will cover:

· Personal excellence

· Cricket team leadership

· Cricket team captaincy

· Team performance and competitiveness

Dave Cowell (Club President, U14 Coach, 300 Game player and Collingwood supporter) has run this session previously, with great feedback. Our Club Coach Rob Ferdinands will also be assisting. Emails to players with exact details will follow – however if interested, please save the date.

Parkmore Primary School – Community Night

Last Saturday saw a great evening at Parkmore Primary School. Special thanks to all the helpers who were there, namely:

· Daniel, Claire, Lachlan & Isabella Smith

· Peter & Christian Jessup

· Will, Tamara, Zac & Kaelan Scully

· Luisa & Sam Mackie

· Amanda, Jean-Paul, Jasmine & Harrison Lefebure

· Andrew Siebel

· David Cowell

· Dr. Rachel Duckham

· Kevin Rosemeyer

· Robin Ferdinands

It was a great night, which looks like generating more families to Nunawading CC!!

Holybury Kindergarten

Our Milo Coordinator Danial ‘Smudge’ Smith, and his lovely wife Claire, last week ran cricket clinics at Holbury Kindergarten. This was the first time Nunawading has worked directly with Holbury, and is not only another example of Community groups working together, but also a way for Nunawading to look and attract new families. Special thanks to Smudge and Claire for all their work with Milo this season – together with Jason and Chris who are running a great Milo Program. If you are a parent of a Milo child, always please feel free to offer to help out on a Friday. Also, if you are keen on undertaking a Cricket Australia Level 1/Community Coaching course, please let Smudge or I know. The course is free this season, and only takes one Sunday to complete!!

Team Photos – Save the date

Team Photos this year will be as follows:

· Milo – Friday 24 November

· All other teams (7s, 9s, U12, U14, Girls, U16, U18) will be on Sunday 26 November commencing at 4.00pm. Exact times to be confirmed.

Thanks to everyone who is helping make Nunawading Cricket Club the great Club it is!! I hope everyone is enjoying themselves
