Nunawading Cricket Club – Junior Weekly Update (2)

Hi everyone – apologies for the additional weekly email, however a few important things I left off.

Milo this week
As per Paul Allen’s email to all Milo families earlier in the week, due to the ground sharing (where we continue to work with the local soccer club to maximise facilities), Milo Classes this week will start 15 minutes earlier at 6.15pm. This will see the classes finish at 7:15pm – 7.30pm – and possibly allow more families to share in a drink and bite to eat upstairs in our club rooms.

Missing helmet
If anyone has come across a Blue Missouri helmet, please let me know. It was last seen at the Mahoneys Reserve batting nets on Friday night. It was essentially brand new, and I know the young man who owns it would be very keen to have it back. If you do know its whereabouts, please let me know.

Saturday 11 February – What a night
There was a significant event with our Senior players last week. Jean-Paul Lefebure planned the event, where a number of historical Nunawading CC premierships were recognised with a Past Players day. Over 60 former Nunawading players attended the club on Saturday afternoon and also Saturday evening. It was a great night, with Stu Hamilton (who many of you will know as a Life Member and Premiership First XI player) organising a great day. Special thanks to Heatherdale CC, who were playing our First XI on Bob Saker oval, and joined us in a double celebration.

In addition to the night, four new Life Members were proposed by the Nunawading CC Committee, and were successfully accepted by members. Whilst all new Life Members are very deserving recipients, two of them will be known by many Junior Families. Kevin Rose’Meyer (Club Secretary for the last 9 years, and also current and reigning premiership Third XI captain) was very surprised by his nomination. Kev has worked tirelessly in all the time that I have known him for Nuna – spending countless hours for our club. Thanks Kev for everything you do. I for one am ever thankful for all the support you have provided me.

Derek Clark also will become a Life Member of Nunawading CC, after over 20 years of varying service. Most Junior families will know Derek as the ‘Apparel Manager’. Derek also plays Senior Cricket for the Club (with amazing averages), has been Club Treasurer, and also is the father of Cam (U16 Captain), and Demi (who helps out behind the bar). Thanks Derek – I know you have also assisted me in many ways.

Massive thanks and congratulations to all four new Life Members – and also Jean-Paul Lefebure and Stu Hamilton, for putting on such a great event. Without JP and Stu, the event would not have got off first base.
