Hi everyone – Another nice night of weather, looks on the cards tomorrow. Please come back to the club rooms for some pizza and sausages after the completion of matches, training and Milo, to hear all about the performances of our children. This week, State Member of Parliament Neil Angus, is also scheduled to be at Mahoney’s Reserve, to again see what Nunawading CC is doing. If you see Neil at the grounds, please make him feel welcome. Neil was really impressed with the number of children we had playing cricket at Nunawading when he was at the club before Christmas, and was keen to come back again!!

Junior Presentation Day
Details and date of the Junior Presentation will be communicated in the next week. We are just currently finalising a few things, before we can confirm the date.
Team Performances and Coaching
As we near the end of the season, it looks like Nunawading will have one of its teams playing finals (U16) and possibly another 2 (U18 and U12B). Unfortunately the other age groups which do have finals will not qualify (U15 Girls, and both U14 teams). Our U12C team and both U10s do not play finals. I will provide details of finals qualification and matches when they are known in the coming weeks.
Whilst playing finals is always nice, it is not everything. Fun, enjoyment and development are crucial, and is what Nunawading CC is also about. As we have always said, every child is welcome to play cricket at Nunawading. I know that under the guidance of Peter Jessup (Junior Coaching Coordinator), our coaching and training has come along a long way this season. Whether it has been the new coaching Peter has introduced himself, the introduction of Chat providing 1-1 batting training on a Wednesday and Friday night, or whether it is Gus and Tom (Two Level 2 coaches, from England, playing Sub District Cricket for Box Hill Cricket Club), the improvement and development in our players I think is evident – and probably as big as I have seen in any one year. Whether that be existing players, or as has been the case this season, a number of players new to cricket! Thanks Peter for all your hard work this season. As a parent also, I am very appreciative of the way you have helped further develop our Children.
Thanks to everyone – including those in the last week – who have indicated they would be happy to participate in the matches that was scheduled for this Sunday. Unfortunately, we probably do not have enough numbers to proceed – which is very understandable. It is late in the season.
#beinvolved member of the week
This week I would like to acknowledge the Miskin family. Vuyo plays in our U14 team, and Lesedi plays in our Girls U15 team. Lesedi has also regularly played in our U14 team this season when short of players (along with Tahlia MacPhie). Lesedi is generally always at the U14 match, supporting her brothers team, while also batting and fielding when asked. Last Friday, Vuyo was injured and was unable to play, however not only did Vuyo come to Mahoneys Reserve to support his team mates, Lesedi also attended – and played!! Thanks very much Lesedi – I know the team appreciated it. Parents Romi and Ikram are also generally at all games, and are always among the first parents to help out, cook the BBQ/assist in the kitchen when on duty and support the club.
