With only two Friday nights to go before the break, let’s hope tomorrow night we can get some cricket in!! With the forecast for Friday a little cooler, a reminder that everyone is expected to attend matches, training or Milo, unless otherwise advised. The Association and Nunawading CC always try to get cricket in where it is safe and conducive to do so. Should there be a decision made to cancel by the Association, an email will be sent. Otherwise, please arrive at grounds as normal – where coaches will make a decision as to whether games proceed. Either way, please come back to the club rooms afterwards, as the Petrou family are organising some roast beef, which will go very nicely with a gravy and a roll. Sausages will also be available!! The Aussies will also be playing the third One Day International at the MCG, and our TV screens will be showing all the action!!

As per my additional email on Monday, the Nunawading Cricket Club Christmas Party is on Friday 16 December (invitation attached). Santa will be in attendance sometime around 7.00pm, and will visit the Milo Children and U10s (who will be training). Everyone will be welcome to then come upstairs for some Piccolino Pizza and Sausages – as well as a cold drink. We will be unlikely to do match presentations on the night, however there will be some announcements. Following on from that, Santa will again return and visit U12, U14, U15 Girls, U16 and U18. This will likely be around 8.45pm – 9.00pm.
If you would like your child (and siblings) to receive a present from Santa, please bring one along – wrapped and clearly named. There will be designated spots for you to leave your present throughout the night. Please ensure presents are no more than $10-$15 for your child.
Finally, please RSVP for catering purposes – and let me know if you can bring a salad or dessert to share!!
As mentioned last week in the club rooms a number of our players have spent the last months trying out for various Representative Cricket Teams. A big congratulations to everyone who has tried out. A massive congratulations to these players. It is not easy to qualify for these teams. All at Nunawading CC are very proud of you, and wish you the best. (If I have missed anyone, please let me know. Clubs are not directly notified of representative team selections)
Big Bash League Memberships
All U10, U12, U14, U15 Girls, U16 and U18 players should now have received your BBL Memberships for the Stars or Renegades. If you have not yet received it, please let me know ASAP (as I have probably stuffed something up)!! Additionally, as we get closer to the start of the BBL, if you would like additional memberships for family members (at possibly cheaper prices), or if any of our Milo families would like to purchase any, please let me know ASAP, so I can rganise!
Please ensure all photo orders are returned this Friday to Team Managers.
Please ensure all raffle tickets are returned to Team Managers by Friday 16 December. If you have not yet sold all the tickets you have and do not think you will, please also return to your team manager – so that tickets can be possibly sold elsewhere.
#beinvolved member of the week
Whilst last week I acknowledged a family new to Nunawading, this week I would like to mention a family that has been at the club for 4-5 years. The Petrou family are fabulous supporters of the club, and help out in many ways. Jim is always at training on a Wednesday night, and will help out the coaches with training regularly. This can simply be taking some players off to the side for fielding, or alternatively throwing balls at batsmen in the nets (like he did last night). Jim also has started playing senior cricket with his oldest son Athos (who also plays U16). Georgia is a great asset to the club – helping out in many ways – often behind the scenes, with the clubs interests at heart. Christos is in the U12s, and is always keen to not only train hard, but to improve his cricket. Also, as mentioned earlier, it is not uncommon for the Petrou family to assist with post game cooking in one way or another. Thanks Jim, Georgia, Athos and Christos.
