Nunawading Cricket Club – Junior Weekly Update

Hi everyone – wasn’t it great to have some sun and cricket last Friday!! The good thing is that tomorrow looks even better! A sunny 26 degrees is forecast, which will be great to watch our children play cricket. Afterwards, as part of our post-match presentations, we will have Piccolino’s chicken schnitzel, scalloped potatoes and tortellini carbonara. We will also have our famous sausage sizzle (sausages from Dench in Forest Hill)!!

Wednesday Night

What a great night we had yesterday at Mahoneys Reserve. Our Girls team playing on Bob Saker Oval, U10 Gold playing on the second oval, U12, U14, U16 training (with the bowling machine in operation), Chat providing specialist 1-1 training, ‘Starman’ from the Melbourne Stars in attendance and Cam MacPhie and Chris Baensch cooking the sausage sizzle. Federal MP Julia Banks was very impressed with our club and the community feel we had. Julia went out and spoke to the girls during their game. Club President Dave Cowell and I spent a good 30 minutes talking to Julia and showing her around Mahoneys Reserve. We are hopeful this will be the start of a strong relationship with Government.

Big Bash League memberships

As part of your junior subscriptions at Nunawading CC, all U10, U12, U14, U15 Girls, U16 and U18 players will receive a two game membership to a Melbourne Big Bash League (BBL) team. I have spoken to all families/children, who have chosen whether they would like a Stars or Renegades membership. Your details have now been passed onto the Stars and Renegades, and I am advised that memberships should start to arrive by mid November. If there are any Milo families who would like a Two Game membership for $10 for their child (or any families who would like additional memberships to the Stars or Renegades ie Adult Two game membership), please let me know. I am happy to organise on your behalf at the discounted price the club is able to receive.

Curry Night

Just a reminder that our Curry Night will be on Friday 25 November. If you are able to cook/donate a curry or rice dish on the night, please let me know. We are expecting State MP Neil Angus to also be in attendance on the night.

Toyota Good For Cricket Raffle

As mentioned previously, Team Managers will be seeking everyone’s assistance in selling /buying tickets over the coming weeks. Please help support the club where you can.

#beinvolved member of the week

Our #beinvolved member of the week is the Castelow family. This season, Sally has taken on the role of Team Manager for the U14A team, and last Friday was setting up the ground at Mahoneys Reserve for the boys to play. Mark subsequently came down to score. Sally has also introduced one, (and now maybe two) of Daniels friends to also join the U14A team. Daniel is also being very involved on the pitch, last week retiring not out on 60 – Thank you to the Castelow family – your efforts are greatly appreciated.
