Nunawading Cricket Club – Junior Weekly Update

Hi everyone – It was great to have our U12, U14, U16 and U18 teams playing cricket on Friday night. This Wednesday evening sees the start of our U10s and Girls teams, with Milo due to start on Friday. Further details on all times below.
Season Launch

With most of our juniors now playing this week, this Friday night we will have our Season Launch. Please come up to the club rooms after your matches/training have finished on Friday. We will be having pizza and pasta from our new sponsor Piccolino Pizza, together with a sausage sizzle as well. The bar will be open for a cold drink and we will also have some presentations from last season and an official welcome to the season. I know I always encourage all families to come to our club rooms every week, however all families are strongly encouraged to join in the celebrations this Friday Night (and also to hear more about being named the Whitehorse City Council Sports cub of the year). I know our Girls Team do not train or play on a Friday, however Girls and their families are also encouraged to come to our rooms.

U12, U14, U16, U18 – Your second game this Friday. Your team Managers will advise you details of where you are playing this week.

U10 – Matches start this Wednesday 12 October at 5.00pm. I am aware Team Managers/Coaches have advised details of where games are. If you have not heard, please let me know.

Girls Team – Match starts this Wednesday 12 October at 5.00pm. Team Manger Nicole will be in touch, as soon as we confirm location (we are trying to get it to a closer ground).

Milo in2Cricket – Commences this Friday night 14 October at 6.30pm. Please arrive at the soccer oval at Mahoney’s Reserve by 6.15pm, for a 6.30pm start. Please note, the first session is often one where we confirm registration details, however we will also endeavour to get a modified session in. We are fortunate that Paul Allen will again be running our Milo program this year.

T20Blast – Details of locations are still being confirmed by the Association and Cricket Victoria, however I have entered a team on a Friday night. I know I have spoken/emailed a few families about interest in playing T20 Blast, however I am now in a position to get this up and running (matches normally start later in October). Please advise me if you would like to discuss T20 Blast (which is in-between Milo in2Cricket and U10 Cricket). Also, if you have previously advised me you are keen for your child to play, can you please confirm your interest, as I am now looking to confirm numbers.

If anyone is unsure of where they are playing, please let me know.

Training dates and times at Mahoney’s Reserve for the season are as follows:

Girls Team – Monday 5.00pm – 6.15pm (as mentioned, we will endeavour to ensure we can get all girls training as we know this day does not suit everyone)

U18 – Training with Seniors as per previous advices
U16 – Wednesday 5.00pm – 6.30pm
U14 – Wednesday 5.45pm – 7.00pm
U12 – Wednesday 5.00pm – 6.15pm
U10 – Friday 6.00pm – 7.15pm

Our Apparel orders will be available for collection tomorrow night at training. Our Apparel Manager Derek Clark will be at training soon after 5.00pm. If you have not yet ordered apparel, but would like to, please contact Derek on

U12 and U14

We are still looking for another 2-3 children for our under 12 and U14 squads. If you know anyone who is interested in playing cricket at our club, please let me know!!

#beinvolved example of the week

This week, I would like to thank all families and children who came to the club rooms on Friday night after our matches, and helped ensure our club rooms were clean at the end of the night. As mentioned, just by putting cups and plates in the bins, it is a great help. We all want nice club rooms, and as I say ‘the standards you walk past or leave behind, are the standards you accept’ – thanks again.
