Nunawading Cricket Club – Junior Weekly Update

Hi everyone – Apologies for the length of the email this week, however as we are less than a month away from the start of the season, there is a lot of information to share.
Registration Day

Last Saturday was the clubs Junior Registration Day. It was a great success, with more than 30 families attending to register and ordering apparel. We are also fortunate to have at least ten new families join the club, playing across most age groups. A special welcome to all new families. If at any stage you have any queries, please let me know. Any existing families who have not yet completed a Registration Form for this season, will need to do so ASAP. It is imperative that we know who is playing this season, so that we can accurately enter all our teams. I attach a Registration Form, and an Apparel Order Form again. Special thanks to Jean-Paul, Glen, Caz and Derek for helping on the day.

Pre-Season Training

With Father’s Day behind us (I hope all Dads had a great day), training resumes this Sunday (11 Sept) as follows:

· U10, U12, U14, Girls Teams (9.00am – 10.15am). Training will then move to Wednesday night (14 Sept) – timings to be confirmed, but likely start around 5.00pm, and finish by 6.15pm as Daylight Savings has not yet started.
· U16 and U18 (10.00am – 11.15am). Training to remain on a Sunday until further notice. It would be great to see as many boys at training as possible.

Under 10

A quick note again about U10. Thanks to everyone who has responded to my email earlier in the week. As mentioned, we are all very disappointed, however we must move on. The responses to date indicate we will definitely have a Wednesday night team – probably two. If you have not yet provided your response to me, please do so ASAP. By the end of next week, I need to confirm with the Association which days we are entering teams, and obviously advise all families. As mentioned, the club believes Wednesday night is the best option, however if we have enough boys and girls wanting to play on a Saturday or Sunday, we will make that happen!!

#beinvolved example of the week

As you all know, our moto this season is #beinvolved. Each week I hope to be able to provide an example of #beinvolved. This week, I would like to highlight Nicole MacPhie. As most would know, the Club has a very close relationship with our local Primary School Burwood Heights Primary School. This Friday, the school is participating in school sports, with cricket being one sport the children play. The school approached me and asked whether we had any coaches who may be able to assist on the day. After speaking with a few of our coaches and Team Managers from last season, Nicole put up her hand to help the children and the school. Massive thanks Nicole, who does not have any of her children playing cricket at Burwood Heights.

AFL Grand Final Day

Attached is the invitation to the Family Friendly Event at Nunawading CC on AFL Grand Final Day. Please come along and watch hopefully a great game of footy on the big screens, whilst sitting with friends, and having a drink and bite to eat.

Donation of old equipment

If you do have any old cricket equipment that your son or daughter has grown out of, the club can always use them and add them to our kits. We have been through the kits from last season (thanks to Blewey, Scott Millar and Smudge on Saturday) and thrown out some old equipment. Whilst we are buying some new equipment in the coming weeks, any second hand pads, bats, gloves in good condition, will be welcome.
