Nunawading Cricket Club – Junior Weekly Update (Final one for season 2016/2017)

Hi everyone

This will be my last update for the season, however it won’t be long until you will be hearing from me again, as the next season is not far away. (Planning for next season is already underway)!! At this stage, I plan on being in contact again in June/July, with all the information about season 2016/2017. As you know, we welcome all players to the club, so please encourage all friends to come down to Nunawading next season. Also, if you are looking to increase your involvement and help out in a more formal way please let me know!! We are always looking for any form of assistance.

Junior Presentation Night
Last Friday was a great night. It was fantastic to see so many people there, and so many smiles on Children’s faces. It really was a great way to celebrate the ‘year that was’. Thanks also to everyone who supported the club and Relay for Life raffles. Winner of the Renegades bat was Jim Petrou, winner of the Renegades shirt was Magda Jackson, winner of the 10KG block of chocolate (supporting Relay For life) was Jack Shannon. Also, whilst we don’t usually focus on individual award winners, special congratulations to Ethan Walker and Lachlan Jessup – joint winners of the Dave Cowell Award for outstanding services (on and off the field) to the Junior Club.

Senior Finals
All three Nunawading Senior Teams which played in Grand Finals on the weekend, were all successful in defending their totals and winning their Grand Finals. This is an outstanding result for Nunawading – as it means out 1sts, 2nds and 3rds are all premiers!! Our Firsts will now return to the highest grade next season (and have won three premierships in the last three seasons).

Association Junior Presentation Night
Monday night saw the Association Presentation Night. Our U16A boys were presented with their premiership flag. Nunawading also had the following individual winners:

Lachlan Jessup – U14A Batting winner for the Association
Ethan Walker – U16 Player of the round for February
Vaishnavi Munukalta – Batting award for the U12 Girls Association Representative team
Rituja Talekar – Coaches award for the U12 Girls Association Representative team

That is it for now – any queries in the off season ,please feel free to contact me.
