Nunawading Cricket Club – Weekly Junior Update

Good morning everyone – sorry for the delay in sending through this week’s update!!

As we approach what will be the last Friday night for some of our teams, I do hope everyone has had a great season at Nunawading. Cricket is not only a great game, but also provides the ability for numerous other benefits. New friendships, new off field development, greater confidence, fitness and most importantly enjoyment, are all benefits of this great game – and club. I also know as a parent, it is a nice way to end the working/schooling week!! I do hope everyone has enjoyed this season. I will continue my weekly updates up until our Junior Presentation day (Sunday 22 March – please RSVP) – and hopefully will be able to report on some finals success. Given tonight is our last Friday night for the season where we will all be together, please come upstairs for a drink, a gourmet pie or a sausage (I will try and make sure I have enough sausages tonight – apologies for last week)!!

Our U14A team will be playing on Bob Saker oval tonight, defending 124 runs. It won’t be easy, however a win will see Buddy’s team finish second and earn a home final. Regardless, they have qualified for the finals, and will be playing on Wednesday and Friday next week. Thursday night is the ‘reserve night).

Our U12B team is also a chance to make finals. They are currently fifth, however a win tonight and a loss to the fourth placed team will see Nunawading with a second team through to finals. At this stage, this is on track. Our boys are in a strong position in their game and the fourth placed team is struggling!!

Finally, on the subject of next season, the club is looking for some extra formal support for next season. As the club grows in size, extra hands will certainly help ensure the task of running the Junior Program is easier. If you might be in a position to do any of the following, please let me know:

Organising Friday night catering
Collecting subs
Organising apparel
Helping with fundraising opportunities 9or grant applications)
Anything else!!
