Coach’s Update December 19, 2011

Hi All

Just a quick update this week as we enter the mid season break.

A big thanks to all who made the Christmas Party such a success. It was great to see all the kids enjoy a special visit from Santa after a hard day’s cricket.

I’m delighted with the way the club is functioning both on and off the field. I have heard comments from visiting clubs about the hospitality on offer at Nunawading and the friendly environment we have.

On the field I am thrilled with the development of all players. The Ankylbyters are really showing something with both the Blackbeards and the Buccaneers displaying great cricket skills and a fan and friendly approach to the game. This is what it is all about. Rob and Daniel are excelling at teaching these kids what cricket is all about.

The under 12s are really getting into some serious cricket. Bowling and fielding is improving each week and they’re batting out their overs regularly and compiling competitive scores. Pennie, Paul and Derek have done a great job.

The under 14s have really gelled as two clubs into one team. The lads are compiling huge scores and defending them in the field. Some of these lads are just about ready for senior cricket next season.

A big thanks to all parents for the great efforts in getting our afternoon teas and weekly BBQs up and going and our three themed nights (Curry night, Grandparents & Guests night & Christmas Party) have all been hugely supported and brilliantly organised.

I’m so proud of our efforts.

Senior Club

NCC will be holding a Sportsman’s Night at the club on Saturday 4th February. I’d love to see a great representation from the junior club at this event. I will be attending and it will be a great opportunity to show the seniors some support, get them to know us a little better and encourage some of them to our games and training.

The night will be hosted by Des Dowling, with special guests including cricketing great Rodney Hogg. The final line-up of guests will be announced shortly. This email is to ask you to make sure that you are free on that date for a great night of entertainment at Nuna.

Cost is $50, which includes finger-food. Drinks at our very reasonable bar prices.

Sporting memorabilia will also be on sale during the night.

If you want to reserve your seat/table, you can do so right now by contacting Stu on 0417 506 357

Please see the attached flyer.

Training resumes at Nunawading on Wednesday 25 January 2012 with games recommencing on Friday 27 January and Saturday 28 January (U14s).

In closing I’d like to wish all Nunawading Families a safe and happy Christmas and a prosperous 2012 and I look forward to seeing you all in the new year.
