Another uninterrupted week of cricket both with training and matches. Training saw all the kids in the nets getting some much needed batting and bowling in warm conditions but at least icy-poles were on offer at the end of the session and well earned they were too.
Thanks to all who came back to the club after their games. Please remember that the after match is where we like to present the week’s encouragement awards.
Dates to Remember
Friday 16 December – Junior Club Christmas Party.
Please RSVP to Luisa Mackie at lumack if you have not already done so.
We need to know numbers so we can cater. If you have not RSVP’d and just turn up there will not be enough to go around for all. Please RSVP now if you are planning to attend and have not already done so.
Also remember to bring a present from Santa for your child and siblings (if they’re attending). The club cannot provide for this as we would hate to see a littlie miss out. Nothing extravagant just a small present for Santa to hand out to the kids.
Representative Team – Special Announcement
Congratulations to under 12s captain Jack Peters for making the BHRDCA under 12 representative team. Jack is in the elite talent in the competition at this age group and his hard work and dedication have paid off. I know Russell, Sue and Maitland are proud as am I and the club as a whole. This was also announced to the senior club after Saturday’s play. All in attendance were impressed.
Caps & Shirts
If you do not have one or you need to replace your child’s junior club playing shirt I have a limited supply with me which are for sale at the enormous price of $15.00 (cash or EFTPOS over the bar). I will have them with me at whatever Friday night game I am at, then back at the club afterwards as well as at training each Wednesday.
Given our first year players free registration policy and our low cost registration fees, it is my preference that the players wear the Pirates shirt and at $15.00 it is probably more reasonably priced than anything you will pick up at Rebel Sport anyway.
Caps are free and will be presented to new players upon their first game. Any replacements requests should be for caps which are aged and discoloured or lost. Please place your child’s name inside their cap as we do not have many left. Caps are compulsory during fielding.
The first week of the game saw the combined Nuna-East Burwood team rack up 232 runs in a fantastic batting display. Well done lads.
The under 12s were took the field against East Doncaster and found the going hard at first but ended up taking all ten wickets in a good bowling display which saw the Moose, Michael Wharton snare his first couple of wickets for the season. Zach and Josh then batted out a difficult two overs to finish not out overnight.
Ankylbyters – Buccaneers
Rob has this team running like clockwork and is ably supported by a great bunch of parents. Reuben continues to improve and Jacob is taking all before him and the fielding is something to behold. This is a tight knit group really enjoying their cricket.
Ankylbyters – Blackbeards
The lads had another good session in the field and with bowling. Great work in the field by all especially Ethan and Jack. The hard work in the field is evident and the running between the wickets has improved out of sight. Nicole and Dan run a good program here and we’re thrilled to see the kids continuing to improve.
A little light on for coordinators this week with the Cowells holidaying in Vietnam but Maxie is an experienced Milo coordinator and did a great job with help from the parents on hand. Thanks again guys. To see the future of the club strutting their stuff is great to see.
If you have taken any photos of junior club action please e-mail them to Dave Cowell at dgcowell and he will load them on the junior club web site.

Christmas/Mid Season Break
This is the last week of cricket before the mid season break. Cricket resumes on Friday 27 January 2012 so that means training will resume on Wednesday 25 January 2012.
Coaching tip of the week – Remember when running do not turn blind if going for a second run. Never turn with your back to the fielder always make sure you are facing the fielder retrieving the ball so you can better judge the run.
Parents tip of the week – Remember to sunscreen and playing hat for all games..
How can you help the club? A box of icy-poles or Zooper Doopers never goes astray especially in the heat of summer and are always popular with the kids. Feel free to place a pack in the freezer. Thanks to all parents who are helping our providing items for the pantry. It’s a big money saver for the club.
