Another rain interrupted weekend of cricket with all Friday night games and Milo being abandoned half way through and the Under 14s game on Saturday morning being a complete wash out. Let’s hope the rain stays mid week only and leaves cricket unaffected for the remainder of the season.
Thanks to all who came back to the club after their games. Please remember that the after match is where we like to present the week’s encouragement awards.
Caps & Shirts
If you do not have one or you need to replace your child’s junior club playing shirt I have a limited supply with me which are for sale at the enormous price of $15.00 (cash or EFTPOS over the bar). I will have them with me at whatever Friday night game I am at, then back at the club afterwards as well as at training each Wednesday.
Given our first year players free registration policy and our low cost registration fees, it is my preference that the players wear the Pirates shirt and at $15.00 it is probably more reasonably priced than anything you will pick up at Rebel Sport anyway.
Caps are free and will be presented to new players upon their first game. Any replacements requests should be for caps which are aged and discoloured or lost. Please place your child’s name inside their cap as we do not have many left. Caps are compulsory during fielding.
The second week of the game between East Burwood – Bennetswood/Nunawading against Mitcham was washed out due to heavy rain overnight Friday night and Saturday morning.
The under 12s were in a good position over halfway toward their target for the loss of only three wickets before the rain intervened. Congratulations to Abraham Boston who played his first game of competitive cricket and was presented with his cap by team manager Paul Aspin.
Ankylbyters – Buccaneers
Were in the middle of a make up game against Park Orchards (thanks to Rob Nash for getting this one up and running) until the rain came in. The boys were batting well. Keep up the great work guys. Congratulations to Dimitri Petaroudas who played his first game of Ankylbyters cricket and was presented with his cap by Buccaneers coach Rob Nash.
Ankylbyters – Blackbeards
The lads had a good session in the field and with bowling. Great work in the field by Matty Cowell and Jacob Keele and good catching by Michael Cowell. Tom “Suds” Wharton Suds and Noah Browell managed to get in a decent opening partnership before the rain intervened (as it did last time the lads played Mitcham).
Another rain out for the Milo kids. Lets hope they get some good sessions in over the next few weeks.
If you have taken any photos of junior club action please e-mail them to Dave Cowell at firstname.lastname@example.org and he will load them on the junior club web site.

Dates to Remember
Friday 2 December – Grandparents & Special Guests Night. Please refer to previous e-mail and don’t forget to let Luisa and i know of what you can help provide.
Friday 16 December – Junior Club Christmas Party- Details to follow.
Coaching tip of the week – Remember when fielding always keep your eye on the ball and bend right down to pick it up. Don’t let the ball get behind you and a good strong throw to the wicket keeper.
Parents tip of the week – Remember to always pack a drink for games and training.
How can you help the club? Whenever you are doing some grocery shopping if you could just add a bottle of tomato or bbq sauce and place it in the pantry in the kitchen of the club rooms. It’s only a couple of dollars and helps both the junior and senior clubs.
